Sunandan Divatia School of Science was started in 2007 with a view to provide undergraduate and post graduate students an opportunity to be a part of the unique learning methodology which lays emphasis on academic excellence combined with industry oriented training. With the boom in information technology and more and more sophistication in instrumentation techniques, there is now a very thin dividing line between the various disciplines of science. Therefore, there is a greater need for flexibility in scientific thoughts as well as training manpower on an interdisciplinary plane. With these thoughts, the SVKM’s NMIMS introduced highly innovative and unique interdisciplinary courses at the School of Science from the academic year 2007-2008. The goal of the Sunandan Divatia School of Science is to be a Center of Excellence in the domain of Pure and Applied Science by providing quality education and research.

M.Sc. in Applied Statistics & Analytics aims at providing high level training in fundamental principles of statistical inference, statistical machine learning, applied and computational statistics through mathematically demanding lectures and case study sessions, hands-on practical sessions in computer laboratory. This is a specialized and a unique two year (four semesters) full-time program with curriculum which includes modern computationally intensive theory and methods. This program is spread over four semesters which includes industry internship in the last semester. Also, various managerial skill development aspects such as leadership skills, HR Management, organizational behaviour and project management are integrated in the course.

The candidate must hold a bachelor’s degree in any stream with minimum 60% aggregate marks or a minimum CGPA of 3 out of 4
The candidate must have passed 10 + 2 or equivalent examination including IB Diploma with Statistics /Mathematics/ Mathematics & Statistics as a compulsory subject with minimum 60% marks in the subject. Candidate with IB Diploma is eligible only if he/she has offered Statistics/Mathematics/Mathematics & Statistics at SL/ HL.

The M.Sc. Applied Statistics & Analytics program is a full-time two year program and follows semester pattern.
In all, there are four semesters.
Each year comprises of two semesters; each semester shall be of 15 weeks.
Semester IV shall be industry internship.

A FULL-TIME TWO YEAR PROGRAM FOLLOWING SEMESTER PATTERN. IN ALL, THERE ARE FOUR SEMESTERS. SEMESTER I, II AND III WILL HAVE –

4 core Statistics theory papers (each of 4 credits).
One paper of Computer Practical (of 2 credits).
One paper of software (of 1 credit) and.
One paper of skill development (2 credits).
